Yes, I have to say Filipinos are definitely quicker at adjusting and adapting to new cultures and therefore may let go of their roots more than you would want. I do think a lot of it has to do with distance from country of origin. While Filipinos have stores and fast food restaurants, and even a few TV channels to remind them of their home country. Latinos on the other hand just have to go two hours away to experience their culture and this definitely makes an impact on staying close to their roots.</description>

As a Filipino American that was born in the Philippines and moved to the US when I was 4, I have seen firsthand the search and the accomplishment of the American Dream with my immediate family.  

While I agree that ease of language adaptation has been a huge factor in our success, I also believe that as a culture, we adapt almost too well to our adopted countries, losing a bit of the core Filipino identity along the way.  I realize that it is in the hands of the second, third, and future generations to ensure that this doesn&#039;t happen, but I believe that it is a reality that is much more prevalent with Filipinos than with the Latino population.
